Job Description: 

 

Summary
Under general supervision, the Press Assistant is responsible for supporting the Press Operators with
duties required to run the press, including but not limited to: operating the rewind slitter and rewind table, press make ready, staging materials, general cleanup and maintenance of the press.


Essential Functions
This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
• Completes final inspection of finished labels per the specifications and standards.
• Sets up and runs a Rotoflex slitter; corrects and properly aligns slitting blades onto slitting shaft;
corrects positioning of blades and maintains registration, tension and diameter of finished rolls.
• Replaces missing labels as detected by machine.
• Stages skids using a pallet jack.
• Records accurate quality and quantity data required on various documents using the computer.
• Follows docket instructions.
• Follows standard operating procedures as established by the company.
• Safely operates the press equipment and performs preventive maintenance on press equipment.
• Uses Radius production management system to accurately record time and materials data.
Accurately scans inks, paper, foil, etc. into the system and scans materials out of the system
when the job is complete.
• Maintains accurate materials inventory.
• Operates re-wind table.
• Participates with cleanup and maintenance duties including: trash bins, recycle bins, skid storage,
washing inks pans and general housekeeping.
• Assists with final product shipment.
• Keeps work area clean, neat, organized and hazard free throughout entire shift.
• Cleans up work area after each job and uses proper handling of all tooling.
• Observes recycling guidelines and limits waste of materials and supplies.
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety
regulatory consideration.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate and prior employment experience.
• Required to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue Color Vision Test with a score of 75 or below.
• Required to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Required to work rotating shifts and overtime.
• Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short
correspondence and memos.
• Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
• Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.

 

Preferred Qualifications
• Six months of manufacturing experience or training.
• Prior print manufacturing job experience.
• Experience with Production Management System (Radius), Desktop PC, Excel, Word and Outlook.

Compensation

Hiring Hourly Rate: $21.44 - $25.19 

Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
