Summary
Leads technical accounting and financial reporting processes for a privately-owned enterprise, ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial information. Oversees key accounting areas including fixed assets, lease accounting, and acquisitions, provides GAAP guidance to the Accounting and Finance teams and the business, and leads the interim and year-end independent audit processes. Coordinates the company wide close and oversees assigned general ledger activities. Supports financial reporting and treasury activities, including cash reporting and analysis, while partnering cross-functionally to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance financial visibility. Manages a team of Accounting professionals.
Essential Functions

• Serves as the organization’s day-to-day technical accounting lead. Applies US GAAP to transactions, documents recommended accounting conclusions, and escalates enterprise-level or highly judgmental matters (e.g., revenue recognition, business combinations, debt and equity, adoption of new standards) to the Director.
• Directs lease accounting, fixed asset accounting, and property tax accounting, including system administration, capitalization and depreciation, disposals, reconciliations, compliance, and coordination with external property tax authorities.
• Coordinates execution of the company-wide month-end and year-end close and oversees assigned general ledger activities, including the close calendar, task ownership, review controls, and reconciliations. Drives close-cycle improvements and sets priorities across the team. Ensures alignment with corporate accounting policies.
• Oversees preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, total company and divisional balance sheets, cash flows, and account reconciliations. Analyzes results and variances, delivers insights to Finance and Accounting leadership, and prepares analyses and supporting schedules that the Director uses for executive and board reporting.
• Maintains support for and reconciliations of approved adjustments between GAAP financial results and other reporting frameworks.
• Serves as the day-to-day internal contact for interim and annual independent audits, working with staff to coordinate audit requests, schedules, and team responses. Prepares draft financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures for Director review. Elevates significant audit issues and proposed adjustments to the Director.
• Develops and maintains accounting policies, process documentation, and internal controls for areas of responsibility within the policy framework set by the Director. Ensures consistency, accuracy, and alignment with corporate and GAAP requirements. Recommends policy changes, supports testing, and remediates control deficiencies in assigned areas.
• Researches and responds to complex accounting issues, including acquisition accounting, and prepares technical accounting memorandums, as necessary. Assesses the impact of new accounting standards and works cross-functionally to develop and execute approved implementation plans.
• Oversees daily cash reporting processes and manages cash flow forecasting, liquidity analysis, and cash management metrics to support business decision-making.
• Leads automation, systems, and process improvement initiatives within Accounting, including implementation of accounting systems and reporting tools. Evaluates opportunities, recommends solutions, and manages approved projects through completion.
• Translates priorities into team plans, deadlines, and workload, and drives accountability and continuous improvement.
• Coaches staff, sets performance expectations, evaluates results, and supports career development. Provides input on talent and succession.
• Ensures team conformance to best practices and adequate training and cross-training of staff.
• Provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Develops, coaches, and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.
• If accountable for the work of others, communicates job expectations, conducts performance evaluations; reviews and communicates salary adjustments; rewards employees or takes disciplinary action, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance plus 8 years of accounting experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance plus 7 years of G3 accounting experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
• Experience managing a team of Accounting professionals.
• Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial statement preparation, and month-end close processes.
• Strong proficiency in financial systems and tools, including ERP systems and advanced Excel capabilities.
• Experience researching accounting issues, and documenting and communicating conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a large, high growth organization, preferably in industries with complex
accounting requirements or in Public Accounting.
• CPA license in active status.
• Experience in treasury analysis and reporting, including cash management, liquidity planning, and debt accounting and covenants.
• Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and inventory management, with a strong understanding of cost structures and inventory controls.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Experience with establishing and integrating new software systems, processes, and reporting/analysis tools.
• Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting common financial reports, and legal documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders, and to present to top management.
• Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
• Experience working collaboratively with all levels and functions within the Company to drive projects with strategic impacts and improve processes.
• Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and controlling.
• Works under pressure, meets aggressive deadlines, and makes effective and sound decisions.

Compensation
Hiring Salary Range: $137,300 - $171,600
Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
